The Indian Racing Festival Takes Its Next Chapter to Buddh International Circuit

The Indian Racing Festival reaches Buddh International Circuit on 31 October and 1 November for the first time. F4 India arrives after Luviwe Sambudla took the championship lead at Madras, while the Indian Racing League returns for its second round in a season that will also visit BIC again in late November.

Indian Racing Festival 2026 calendar F4 India Round 3 report from Madras FMSCI calendar

A new circuit gives the Indian Racing Festival a new kind of weekend. The series arrives at Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida on 31 October and 1 November, bringing F4 India and the Indian Racing League to a venue best known for the three Formula One Indian Grands Prix held from 2011 to 2013. It is the festival’s first visit to BIC, and FIA-level racing returns to the track after a 13-year gap.

The timing gives this visit two stories. One is about a championship moving between circuits. The other is about a major permanent venue reopening its doors to a current Indian racing programme. The paddock arrives with a title fight already underway, a recent record set in Chennai and two more festival weekends planned after this one.

BIC offers a different setting for the season

The Indian Racing Festival has already taken its 2026 campaign through Kari Motor Speedway in Coimbatore and the Madras International Circuit in Chennai. BIC changes the scale of the next meeting. Its long straights and sweeping corners were built for high-speed international racing. The festival’s teams and drivers now get to understand that circuit through the format of their own championships.

The calendar gives the venue multiple visit. Round 4 runs at BIC this weekend, followed by Round 5 on 28 and 29 November. The season then closes with a night-race finale on the streets of Navi Mumbai from 5 to 6 December. The schedule gives teams a second chance to apply what they learn at BIC before the championship changes setting again.

For spectators, two BIC rounds create room to become familiar with the programme. The first has the novelty of a new venue for the festival. The second arrives with more knowledge of where the races will be decided and how the teams have adapted. After that, the calendar moves to a dedicated urban circuit in Navi Mumbai, where the format will carry the season towards its conclusion.

Sambudla brings momentum into the F4 fight

Luviwe Sambudla left Madras at the top of the F4 Indian Championship standings. He won twice at the Madras International Circuit and moved 21 points ahead of Aris Kyriakou. Fifteen-year-old Aaron Mehta added a record of his own by becoming the championship’s youngest race winner. Those results give the BIC round a clear sporting frame.

The points gap is large enough to matter and small enough to keep the contest open. F4 rewards drivers who can translate a quick lap into repeatable race pace. A weekend contains several chances to score, and each one asks the driver to read the field, the tyre and the available space. A strong qualifying position helps, but the races keep adding their own questions.

Kyriakou has been a consistent challenger through the opening rounds. Sambudla’s two wins at Madras changed the order at the top. Mehta’s victory showed how quickly another name can move into the title conversation. BIC will introduce a circuit that many of the young drivers will know only from previous testing, television or simulation. The first sessions will help define which parts of their preparation transfer to the real track.

The Indian Racing League adds a second contest

The Indian Racing League is also part of the weekend. It brings city-based teams and a gender-neutral driver line-up into a format with a different identity from the single-seater championship. The league opened its 2026 campaign at Madras, where Shahan Ali Mohsin won the first race. BIC gives the teams another opportunity to build momentum and adds a second championship story to the programme.

Having the two series together is a useful part of the Festival’s structure. F4 creates a visible step for young drivers working through the single-seater pathway. The Indian Racing League creates team identities that can connect with audiences across cities. The cars share a venue and a weekend, while the titles ask for different kinds of consistency.

That combination gives organisers a broader event to present at a venue where Indian fans have not seen this festival before. The F4 field has a championship leader to chase. The league has a new circuit to explore. The programme has room for a track-side audience to follow both kinds of racing through the same weekend.

A return with work still to do

BIC’s return to FIA-level competition is a milestone, yet one race weekend cannot decide the future of a circuit. The venue’s long-term value will be shaped by access, the strength of the event calendar, the support available to teams and the audience that turns up. The Indian Racing Festival brings a current championship structure and a clear reason for fans to return in November.

The schedule also puts Indian circuit racing into a larger national conversation. BIC has hosted a Formula One round. Kari and Madras have sustained current national programmes. A street-circuit finale is planned for Navi Mumbai. The season links established facilities with new ambitions, while its drivers build experience one race at a time.

This weekend, the immediate measure is simple. Can Sambudla protect the lead? Can Kyriakou close it? Can the BIC debut create close racing across both championships? The timing sheets will answer those questions. The wider achievement is already in view: an Indian racing festival has reached a circuit that has been waiting for its next major international chapter.
