Ott Tänak and Martin Järveoja won Overmountain Rally Tennessee in Toyota’s GR Corolla Rally RC2, finishing 1 minute 4.3 seconds ahead of Brandon Semenuk and co-driver Keaton Williams. The Newport event combined ARA National and East Regional competition across more than 100 miles of gravel, clay and hard-packed dirt.
The result gives Tänak a clean American rally reference in a car that arrived with immediate pace. Overmountain was the seventh round of the 2026 ARA National calendar and the first American event for Toyota’s GR Corolla Rally RC2 programme. Tänak and Järveoja built the win through the middle of the rally, then answered the final challenge without allowing the lead to unwind.

The new Toyota had an immediate answer
Tänak and Järveoja finished in 2:01:16.6. Semenuk and Keaton Williams were second in the Subaru WRX Rally2, with Seth Quintero and Grégoire de Mévius third in the Toyota GR Yaris Rally2. The margin was large enough to make the result clear while the order behind the winner kept the event competitive through the closing stages.

The final result also carried a strong women’s and junior story. Lia Block and Rhianon Gelsomino finished fourth, ahead of Ricardo Cordero and Marco Hernandez. Sean Donnelly and Alex Kihurani were sixth, while Madelyn Tabor and Jamie McKee placed ninth.
A rally decided by rhythm and reliability
Overmountain’s roads were described as smooth gravel, clay and hard packed dirt, though the surface still demanded a clean line and careful braking. The event carried 13 stages in the final timing report. Tänak took consecutive stage wins on SS8 through SS11 and then closed the rally with the fastest time on SS13.

The result is valuable beyond one trophy. The ARA calendar gives drivers a variety of surfaces and event rhythms, and Overmountain provided the GR Corolla with a proper national distance test. Tänak leaves Tennessee with a win, a clear setup reference and an American rally audience that now has a new car to watch.

The ARA season now moves towards Marquette and Lake Superior Rally in Michigan on 9 and 10 October. The Overmountain result gives the championship another international name, a new Toyota reference and a winner whose pace will be measured again on a different American road.
A third place keeps the title fight alive
The result in Tennessee also changed the calculation at the front of the national championship. Lia Block finished fourth and Seth Quintero third, leaving Block 17 points ahead as the season moves to its final national round. The order on the road gave both drivers something to carry into Michigan: Block keeps the advantage, while Quintero keeps a mathematical route to the title.
RACER reports that 27 points are available at Lake Superior Performance Rally, with 22 for an event win and five more for the Power Stage. Quintero must score all 27 and hope Block earns 10 or fewer. Eleven points would make Block champion. It is a clean threshold, although the rally itself will make the arithmetic feel anything but simple once the crews are out among the stages.
The championship scoring system uses each driver’s best six results from the eight-round season, while every Power Stage point remains in the total. That makes the final weekend a test of pace and precision in equal measure. A driver can leave a stage with the rally lead in mind and the championship table in the back of the car, where every small point still has a place.
Marquette brings a long memory to the finale
The official Lake Superior Performance Rally programme lists 9 and 10 October in Marquette, Michigan, with 123 competition miles and about 300 transit miles across gravel, sand and hard-packed dirt. The route is organised over eight stages. Five use roads that featured in the 1974 Press on Regardless event, giving this year’s crews a direct line into the rally’s older identity.
Press on Regardless began in 1949 as a time-speed-distance rally and became a stage rally in 1969. It appeared in the World Rally Championship in 1973 and 1974. Lake Superior Performance Rally was founded in 1994, and its return to the Upper Peninsula has kept those northern roads close to the centre of American rallying.
Overmountain will therefore travel to Michigan in two forms. The result has already given the GR Corolla Rally RC2 its first ARA National victory, with Tänak and Järveoja making an immediate mark on American gravel. The championship now gives Block and Quintero one final weekend to answer a question that began months before the Toyota arrived in Tennessee.
